On the first day you will be picked up by the guide in your hotel in Santa Marta and taken to El Mamey, the starting point of the trek. After hiking for a while, you will get to the first campsite. This is how the journey begins, you will have time to rest and spend the night in the campsite.
You will spend the second day hiking by the riverside of Buritaca River and then through the greenery of the Sierra Nevada until getting to the other campsite. Along the way, you will see why the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain in the world with snowcapped summits. It is the ancestral territory of the Kogi, Arhuaco, Kankuamo, and Wiwa native communities.
On the third day, you will walk up striking trails to reach the 1,200-step staircase to the destination, a trail constructed by the Tayrona community to get to the Lost City. Deep in its forest, the Lost City can be found. This place was so well hidden that although it is almost 400 years it was recently found in the 20th century. Once you arrive, there will be several circular platforms, which are the last remnants of the homes inhabited by the Tayrona people thousands of years ago.
Finish the fourth day by going back to El Mamey and then to your hotel. This is an experience full of adventure, history, and discoveries that will leave you satisfied.
